History of the area

The Domesday Book (1086) indicates that Redwick was in the Hundred of Brentry.

The Brentry Hundred contained -
Westbury on Trym, Henbury, Redwick, Aust, Charlton, Compton Greenfield, Redland, Stoke Bishop, Stoke Gifford, Yate and Itchington.

The entry indicated it as the land of the Church of Worcester.

St. Marys of Worcester held and holds Westbury on Trym and that Henbury, Redwick, Stoke Bishop and Yate belonged to the manor.

Of the manors land Thurstan son of Rolf holds 5 hides in Aust, Gilbert son of Thorold holds 3 1/2 hides in Compton Greenfield, Constantine 5 hides in Itchington.
